Nine-card square

Explore image details and position meanings, then organize your own understanding.

When to use

For cultural learning, reviewing a present situation, and recording your own thoughts.

Reading boundaries

Positions offer reading perspectives; decisions still require your information and verification.

Steps and order

Choose a layout and reading mode. Shuffle, optionally cut, and draw, place, and reveal in position order. The order and orientation stay fixed for this round.

Reading path

Observe individual cards, then compare positions, neighbors, or a selected path. Separate images, references, and personal associations before saving your own understanding.

Worked practice

Fixed teaching example: I want to adjust a study routine that keeps being interrupted. These are demonstration cards, not a random round: 1. Position 1 → Ship: Distance, movement, and exchange come into view, inviting attention to what is being left and approached.; 2. Position 2 → Coffin: A phase is closing; acknowledge structures that no longer hold and make room for what follows.; 3. Position 3 → Child: Something new is still emerging; allow room for learning, trial, and gradual growth.; 4. Position 4 → Dog: Reliable relationships grow through everyday trust and support at key moments; notice how trust is built.; 5. Position 5 → Mice: Small losses keep consuming attention; locate the leak in anxiety, delay, or resources.; 6. Position 6 → Man: A male person comes into focus; set stereotypes aside and examine the specific person, action, and responsibility.; 7. Position 7 → Key: A crucial condition or workable entry point is becoming clearer; identify the leverage that can move the situation.; 8. Position 8 → Clover: A small, concrete opening is appearing; notice whether it can be received without exaggerating it.; 9. Position 9 → Snake: Attraction, interests, and concerns are intertwined; separate the strands and examine each cost.. Describe the visible image at each position, then separate the actual causes of interruption, adjustable conditions and personal associations. Journal: This week I will reserve one uninterrupted twenty-minute practice, then check what actually happened. Cross out associations that do not fit. Return to the saved entry to review whether the arrangement worked.

Save and revisit

After saving, return to add how you thought then, what you did, and what you understand now.
